New for 2020, the Corsair is the old MKC sporting Lincoln’s handsome new design language with a front fascia that looks like its Aviator big brother. It also gets a new interior design that was badly needed. With this compact crossover, Lincoln looks to do battle against entries like the Audi Q5, Cadillac XT4, Mercedes GLC etc. Here’s the pricing.

Kinja'd!!!

There are just 2 trim levels for the Corsair with a pretty wide gap in pricing between the 2. The base model is just called Standard and comes with a carryover engine. A 2.0 I4 with 250 horses and fwd, while awd is optional. This is the only engine option on the Standard trim. Noticeably, there aren’t any Black Label trims available for the Corsair and I’m not entirely sure why. Other standout standard features are:

18" Warm Painted Alloy Wheels

Power Liftgate

Lincoln Premium Audio System with Ten-Speakers

Like I mentioned above, awd is one of the first options. But damn if it isn’t pricey. Adding awd is a $3,600 option. There is one main option package that can be selected. Called Standard I, its $1,650 and includes:

60/40 EasyFold® Second Row Seats

Ambient Lighting

Voice-Activated Touchscreen Navigation System

18" Ultra Bright Machined Aluminum Wheel with Dark Tarnished Finish

I added this on as well. There are 9 exterior color choices, The usual plethora of luxury colors. 5 of the colors are $695 options. I stuck with the standard Black.

There is just one exterior package, or what they call an exterior package. Its Ford’s suite of driving aids. Called Co-Pilot 360 its $3,050 and includes:

360-Degree Camera

Active Park Assist Plus

Evasive Steering Assist

Reverse Brake Assist

Adaptive Cruise Control with Traffic Jam Assist which includes Stop-and-Go, Speed Sign Recognition, and Lane Centering.

Kinja'd!!!

I added this as well. There are also 4 wheel options. The Standard I package includes a black tinted 18” wheel. The standard wheel is a 18” warm painted wheel. Whatever that means. The only real option is a 19” aluminum wheel. Its $2,000 and requires the addition of a Premium Package. More on that in a bit.

Kinja'd!!!

For this to be the base model, interior options are attractive. There are 6 seat covering choices in 2 categories. What amounts to be faux leather but Lincoln calls Soft Touch of which there are 3 colors (ebony, sandstone, medium slate) and leather seating in the same 3 color choices. Leather seating is included with the Standard I package.

There are 3 interior option packages. The first is a Convenience package is already included with the Standard I so it was already selected. The second package is called the Elements Package. For $1,100 it includes:

Heated and Ventilated Front Seats

Heated Second Row Outboard Seats

Heated Steering Wheel

Rain Sensing Wipers

Windshield Wiper De-lcer

Kinja'd!!!

I skipped this package as its mostly just cold weather stuff. The final package is the aforementioned Premium package. This became selected automatically by selecting the 19” wheels. It includes a pano roof and heated front seats. Selecting the Standard Package also equips the interior with sat radio, nav system and Sync 3.

As optioned, a Corsair Standard gets pricey quick. You’re looking at $44,535; $46,735 with awd.

Kinja'd!!!

The second and final trim of the Corsair is the Reserve. Starting at $42,630 you get the option to step up to the 2.3 turbo I4 with 280 horses. However its a $1,140 option alone, but requires the addition of option packages Reserve I which itself is $4,150 and includes:

Ventilated Front Seats

• Heated Second Row Outboard Seats

• Heated Steering Wheel

• Rain Sensing Wipers

• Windshield Wiper De-Icer

• Adaptive Cruise Control with Traffic Jam Assist – Includes Lane Centering, Speed Sign Recognition, and Stop-and-Go

• 360-Degree Camera with Front Camera Washer

• Front Sensing System

• Evasive Steering Assist

• Reverse Brake Assist

• Active Park Assist Plus

I added this engine as well, increasing the price quite a bit. The 2.3 engine also only comes with awd. There is a second option package called Reserve II that builds on the Reserve I. For an eye watering $11,540 it includes everything in Reserve I plus:

Adaptive Suspension

Ventilated Front Seats

Heated Second Row Outboard Seats

Heated Steering Wheel

Rain Sensing Wipers

Windshield Wiper De-Icer

360-Degree Camera

Active Park Assist Plus

Adaptive Cruise Control with Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Centering, Stop-and-Go, and Speed Sign Recognition

Evasive Steering Assist (ESA)

Reverse Brake Assist

12.3” Color Display in Instrument Cluster

110/150W AC Power Outlet

Jeweled LED Headlamps, Speed Dependent Lighting, Dynamic Bending

Phone As A Key

Wireless Charging Pad

Perfect Position Seats (24-Way)

This package also requires the 2.3 engine. I added this package. Every exterior color is the same as the standard trim as well as the option of the Co-Pilot 360 package. The Reserve though gets a $1,600 Reserve Appearance package that comes with body color rocker panels, front and rear bumpers, 20” wheels and a unique Lincoln grill. I don’t know what that means but I added this package.

Kinja'd!!!

Standard wheels on the Corsair Reserve are 19” wheels. 2 20” designs are options. One is $1,150 and the other is included in the packages I had selected.

Kinja'd!!!

The interior of the Reserve trim differs even more than the Standard trim. For one, leather is the only seat covering. In addition to the 3 colors from the previous trim, you can also choose between a black/cashew seat color and a color called Beyond Blue which bathes the interior in handsome blue leather. Its a $500 option and part of its own package. I added this simply because where else can you find a blue leather interior? Other interior options include a hud display for $1,700 and a pinstripe aluminum trim which looks pretty cool:

Kinja'd!!!

I would’ve added this as well but it conflicts with the blue interior, which means it can be had on the other colors. So I just selected the hud display for $1,700.

All in, you’re looking at a small crossover that loaded goes for the same money an Aviator goes for on the same trim. A Corsair as optioned goes for $58,860. Not worth it when you see you can have a Aviator Reserve with the twin turbo V6 and more room for a starting price of $57,930 before any options. So while the redesign has made the Corsair handsome in a mini Aviator way, I would spring for the actual Aviator for the money.

Yowza, pricey.  This is the one that’s a platform-mate of the Escape, right?

Every time there’s some new luxury crossover announced I care a little bit less about it than the last luxury crossover that was announced. I find it hard to get excited about luxury versions of transportation appliances. Mainstream brands are perfectly comfy and quiet and well equipped enough. The luxo brands might be nicer but I just can’t get excited about them at all.

If I were for some reason in the market for a 2-row crossover for myself as my one and only vehicle , maybe I could see going with a luxo brand, for some kind of more powerful motor, but probably not, because I wouldn’t buy a 2-row crossover for myself anyway. But like, my wife has her leased mid-trim non-turbo CX-5, and when her lease is up, I could see getting a CPO Kia Sportage SX for her next car. She doesn’t even care about the SX but the step up motor would be more enjoyable for when I drive her car.

If I were for some reason in the market for a 3-row crossover, I wouldn’t want something too fancy because the whole reason I’d get one of those is kid duty and they’ll inevitably fuck shit up anyway. And I’d rather have a minivan for kid duty.

But...apparently everybody else wants a luxury crossover.

Yessir. They share everything internally.

Oh definitely. Plus they want to get rid of them to make room for these. It’s always weird that on Lincolns site the MKC is still listed in the lineup alongside this.

You really can’t get excited about them when you’re in the know and know that it shares engines and other features with lesser vehicles. It’s just badge engineering. They’ve just gotten better at it.

I wouldn’t get anything fancy either as I have a family. Vehicles like this are for empty nesters and seniors who most likely are repeat brand buyers.  I don’t like crossovers anyway. The only one I would ever consider buying is a Porsche Maccan.

Well it is. Like I said, They’ ve just gotten better at it. Its not longer the cookie cutter models from the 80's and 90's that were blatantly the same. Park this and an Escape side by side in front of a customer and they would have no idea they share everything underneath, nearly the same dimensions , same option packages etc.

A $58k Escape?!?! Are they fucking wasted?

It’s ridiculous the Co-Pilot 360 isn’t standard on these things. Isn’t it on all Escape models besides the base? Given the customer base of Lincoln it would probably be a good idea.

But nah, American luxury brands have to be like the Germans and nickel and dime every option package. They might actually sell more with extra standard “luxury” features since their brand name isn’t strong (look at the RDX for example).

Kinja'd!!!2

Correct. Doesn’ t make sense they make it standard on the lower model Escape but its pricey as hell on the Lincoln. Its even standard on the Escape S and that starts just over $26k.

Yep, that’s a lot. Looks like the most you can get an Escape up to is around $42k and that’s with a bunch of third-party accessories. It seems like the car itself tops out around $38k, for a pretty well-equipped vehicle.

I’m sure it’s nice, but it’d be hard to justify picking this over a Kia Sportage SX. It has almost all the features of the $50k Lincoln for $34k, before discounts.

That’s handsome and the interior looks so good. If I were a wealthy man I’d get my wife one of these.

The real question(which you may have answered, I skimmed) does it come with the same, Blue with white accents, interior as the Navigator

2 seconds of googling and there is a blue interior option. Moreof a turquoise/teal tho.

Even $38k for an Escape is insane to me. It’s a damn econo-CUV, a well equipped one shouldn’t break $30k IMO.

Who honestly pays that kind of money for an econo-CUV?!?!

I’m not too bothered by that. To some extent I’m pleased that car makers feel it’s ok to make small cars that don’t suck. 15  years ago, Ford would have been just trying to heard you into an Explorer if you wanted something nicer than a base Escape.

Funny enough, I don’t find them nice at all.

Our friends have a 2019 Escape Titanium. Other than having “gizmos” and leather, it drives, rides, and sounds like a $20k econobox.

Probably a different point of view from me, I expect a vehicle to be smooth, quiet, and comfortable to consider it “luxury” instead of being sold on gizmos like most people. Quite frankly I’m appalled at the ride and interior quality of pretty much all new vehicles and it’s not like I’m used to having anything super luxurious, but a 2019-2020 vehicle should be significantly better inside and ride significantly better than what we’re used to driving.
